That was the most prodigious queue at the Aiguille du Midi I have ever seen. Today it felt like we were at a real Bingo. Nothing was explained but numbers appeared on the board and all of a sudden someone was calling numbers...Finally we jumped on the cable car to then realize the weather had clearly decided to crap out. At the mid-station we had a discussion about the concept of skiing the VB in a whiteout. Decision made, we are bailing off to ski at the Grands-Montets. You should have seen the expression on the face of my collegues guides on their way up...
Stuart was nice enough to reinforce my decision by demonstrating how painful his ski boots were. It wouldn't have been very wise to ski the VB with agonizing feet in a total whiteout. Instead we enjoyed a few blue holes in the sky.
